Bath Abbey is the most photogenic attraction in Bath, with 753 photos taken on Instagram there in the last six months, according to social data sourced by Great Western Railway (GWR).
The Roman Baths is the second most photographed attraction with 675 photos and the iconic Royal Crescent comes in third with 361 photos.
To gather the data, GWR sourced the top 50 attractions and areas of interest from Google UK for London and each county and major city in the South West and South Wales.
This was then cross referenced with photos uploaded to Instagram of the locations in the last six months. From this, GWR has discovered which attractions in Bath have encouraged people to pull out their smartphones and capture the views.
GWR has also announced the launch of #GWRAdventures, a photography competition to find some of the most photogenic locations on their network.
To enter simply take a photo of a beautiful location or destination in London, the South West or South Wales and upload the image to Instagram or Twitter using the #GWRAdventures hashtag and tagging the location.
All qualifying submissions will feature in a gallery and interactive photomap at www.gwr.com/adventures.
Dan Pane, GWR’s Head of Communication, said: “GWR service some of the most photographic destinations in the UK and we wanted to find out where on our network has people capturing the most photos.
“We also want to encourage people to continue capturing the beauty of our network with a photography competition throughout June and July.”
