Later this month, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Haycombe Cemetery and Crematorium will host a special service to remember babies lost before, during or after birth.
The annual service is to be held on Saturday 18th May, having previously been held in October.
The short but moving service has been organised by the RUH Chaplaincy and the Stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS.
It is a unique opportunity to remember, acknowledge and pay respect to special babies. Whether the loss was recent or many years ago, anyone who feels affected is welcome.
Narinder Tegally, RUH Lead Chaplain, said: “The impact of losing a baby is devastating and an important part of the grieving and healing process for those affected is being able to reflect on that loss and remember their little ones.
“The service is always well attended and we welcome anyone who’s been affected to join us.”
This year is a particularly special event, as B&NES Council marks the opening of the SANDS Garden.
Situated at the lower end of Haycombe Cemetery, with beautiful views across the countryside, the garden has been created for everyone to use.
It is a place for peaceful contemplation, and its official opening will be marked after the service at 1.00pm.
Refreshments will be served in the garden, and all are invited to attend the service or the opening, or both.
