The Great Western Air Ambulance Charity has launched an appeal for unwanted clothes and shoes, so they can turn them into money to keep their helicopter flying.
To mark Recycle Week, which takes place from 12th – 18th September, GWAAC want to thank people who have put their unwanted clothes into one of their recycling banks, and to encourage others to do the same.
As part of their partnership with textile recycling firm Bag It Up, the charity receives vital lifesaving funds from recycling.
They need your unwanted clothes and shoes because they can turn them into money to keep the helicopter flying.
GWAAC Head of Fundraising and Marketing Emma Carter said: “We are asking people if they will make us a gift of their unwanted items to help keep us flying.
“Whether it’s that dress that has been hung up for years but has never had the tags removed, or a dodgy jumper or slippers, we want your old clothes.”
It’s not just clothes the charity are after, they also take shoes, bags, curtains and bedding.
Recycling banks have been placed at locations across the area, you can use the bank locator to find the nearest to you – http://biugroup.co.uk/charity/recycling/
It couldn’t be simpler, just bag up your clothes, put them in one of the bins, and see how your unwanted items can help to save lives.
GWAAC needs to raise £2.3million a year to stay operational.
However, they receive no day to day funding from the Government or National Lottery, and rely entirely on the generosity of the people in the region they serve.
