The A39 Bath Road at Farmborough remains closed after a house began collapsing on Saturday, 14th June.

The property in Farmborough, which is at risk of collapse

Bath & North East Somerset Council put diversions in place at the weekend due to the “unstable” house and says its officers are continuing to monitor the property.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service told us: “On 14th June at 10:46am a crew from Hicks Gate Fire Station was called to reports of a dangerous structure on Bath Road Farmborough.

“The crew isolated the gas and electric, evacuated the building and put in cordons to make sure the scene was safe.

“The incident was then handed over to Bath and North East Somerset Council.

The road has been closed in both directions

“Thankfully, no one was injured. The police and highways assisted with traffic management.”

Wales & West Utilities has said it is supporting the emergency services.

It is understood the occupants of the house have been placed in emergency accommodation.

Traffic is being diverted via the A368. The turn-off to Timsbury can still be accessed by drivers coming along the A39 from Marksbury.
