Eight local organisations are set to benefit from a share of £6,500 thanks to Bath Building Society’s annual Charity Awards, with a further three being given hot air balloon tickets to help raise funds.

This is the 13th year Bath Building Society have run the Charity Awards, which were established to support as many local initiatives as possible from the growing number of requests for support that the Society receives each year.

One charity will be nominated Charity of The Year. This year’s Charity of The Year is Bath City Farm, who have benefited from year-round fundraising support from the Society’s employees.

Kevin Gray, Chief Executive of the Society said: “The Awards are very important to us and are a way for the Society to “give something back” to the local community.

“It is amazing the work some of these organisations do and the local people that they help on such little funding, I’m just glad we can help!”

Shortlisted entries are reviewed by a panel of judges including the Mayor of Bath and representatives from The Rotary Club, Bath and The Quartet Community Foundation alongside Bath Building Society colleagues.

In 2018 the Charity Awards supported charities including The Community Bus; Bath Area Play Project; Bath Foodcycle; PEOPLE; The Keep In Touch Club; Cerebral Palsy Plus, Bristol; Hop, Skip & Jump South West, Bristol; The Fluency Trust, Swindon; Caryford Community Hall and Bath MS Society.

Applications are invited throughout May. If you would like to find out more about the awards criteria or request an application form, contact Jo Gillow via email on [email protected].
