35 weeks of roadworks on A4 between Keynsham and Saltford
Roadworks expected to last for eight months begin next week on one of the busiest routes in the region.

The site on Bath Road
Curo Group has planning permission to build more than 200 homes on the greenfield site next to the A4 Bath Road to the east of Keynsham.
Works starts on Monday 8th September on a new access to the site opposite the hand car wash and restaurant.
It marks the start of a larger project that includes further infrastructure improvements between the junctions of Grange Road in Saltford and Fairfield Way in Keynsham.
The works are expected to take around 35 weeks to complete.
Bath & North East Somerset Council has worked with Curo and its contractors to agree a traffic management plan that aims to minimise disruption, especially at peak travel times.
Between 9.30am and 3pm there will be portable traffic signals in use to manage traffic during off-peak hours. Outside of these hours the site will be reconfigured daily to allow two-way traffic, with portable pedestrian signals in place to help people cross safely.
This flexible set-up avoids the need for 24/7 traffic lights and aims to keep rush-hour traffic flowing more smoothly. On-site marshals will be present every day from 7am to 7pm.
Although the project will continue through the Christmas embargo period (24th November – 1st January), arrangements will be made during this time to temporarily restore full vehicle and pedestrian access to minimise disruption during the festive season.
Curo will be building 208 homes, including 30% “affordable” housing, and its website says it is hoping to deliver the first home by the end of 2026 and complete the development by 2030.
The new development will comprise 168 houses and 40 flats. Of these, 62 affordable properties will be managed by Curo long-term, with 47 designated for social rent and 15 for shared ownership.
