An 11-day art and film festival opening in Bath today, Thursday 19th April, is set to raise awareness of conflict taking place globally through a series of films, exhibitions and workshops.
Aimed at film and art lovers who want to learn more about migration, displacement and interculturalism, the event is the first of its kind to be organised in Bath.
It has been brought together with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Economic and Social Research Council in conjunction with the University of Bath and the group ‘Partnership for Conflict, Crime and Security’ (PaCCS).
Events from 19th April – 29th April, will take place at the Holbourne Museum and 44AD Artspace.
Lead organiser, Natalia Rodríguez Domínguez, Director, PaCCS Arts & Film Festival, said: “Our festival aims to create awareness of the conflict-related issues currently taking place in and beyond our borders and to make this subject a bit more approachable to the wider audience.
“Through a series of film screenings, workshops and exhibitions across Bath, we aim to open a window to another reality that, even though many times ignored, is there and deserves more attention.
“With the Festival, we want to prove art and creativity have the power to change the world, not only because it’ll allow us to explore the topics of migration and displacement from a different perspective but also because it empowers disadvantaged communities and helps them carry their messages across geographical boundaries.
“I hope people in Bath enjoy the Festival and find our programme of events attractive and interesting.”
