As part of the Great Bath Feast, Bath Function Rooms and the Bath Cake Company are holding the Great Bath Wedding Cake Challenge that will include a Masterclass on cake decoration.

The cake decoration masterclass will be from Celia Adams, owner of the highly acclaimed Bath Cake Company and cake designer extraordinaire.

Open to the public, the challenge is to decorate a pre-iced, two tiered plain base in 2 hours to produce a finished wedding cake.

Each challenger will need to bring their own decorating items, to include tools, colourings, additional icing, ornaments and haberdashery.

No pre-made flowers or other items can be used (all items of this nature to be made on site as part of the challenge). Bath Cake Company will give a 10% discount to all entrants, and supply some items such as turntables should they be required. Full details on application.

The afternoon event will start at 2pm, with a Celia Adams Masterclass, followed by the two-hour challenge.

From 3.30pm, friends, family and the public will have the chance to watch the work as it progresses, by pre-booking for the afternoon tea to keep the taste-buds happy while you observe the creativity of the challengers.

As one of Bath’s newest wedding venues, the award winning Bath Function Rooms will provide the stunning venue for this challenge.

There will also be a Junior category for 11 to 16 year olds who will be given the challenge of creating a child’s birthday cake from a single tier pre-iced cake base.

Entry Fee (includes afternoon tea):
£35 per adult / £15 per child
£10 / £5 Public Entry (Afternoon Tea only – must pre-book)

Adult Prizes:

1st Prize A day course with the Bath Cake Company;
2nd Prize Dinner for two at Green Park Brasserie;
3rd Prize A Box of  Bath Cake Company Decorating Supplies.

There will also be prizes for the Junior Category and a People’s Choice Award.
