As if holiday clubs, school assemblies and hiring their very own football coach wasn’t enough, a church in Peasedown St John has now designed and branded its very own bouncy castle.
St John’s Church, along with sister churches in the villages of Wellow, Shoscombe and Foxcote, decided to go along with the idea to add extra excitement to the work they are already doing with children in the local community.
Rob Bubyer, Children’s Pastor, said: “Everyone loves a bouncy castle! What more could you ask for? It’s a must at every children’s event.”
The inflatable is 12ft x 15ft and will soon be available for hire to external agencies and groups.
Church Leader, Revd Matthew Street added: “St John’s Church, and the wider St J’s Group benefice is extremely blessed to be in the position to provide a growing number of services and opportunities for the people that live in our community.
“We want to ensure that the church is seen as an organisation that is here to help, serve and support. Believe it or not, our very own branded bouncy castle – for use in the community – helps us to do just that.”
“It will be making a special outing at the village’s biggest annual event in June at the Party in the Park festival, with all primary aged children being given a free go.”
Karen Walker is the festival’s bookings manager. She said: “St John’s Church, along with the other local churches, is a key part of our community. Having their bouncy castle at this year’s festival, freely available, shows very strongly the good relationship we all have. And above all else, it will be a lot of fun too.”
The four village Anglican churches are known collectively as the St J’s Group. As well as children’s groups on a Sunday, they also visit local schools regularly to run assemblies, employ a football coach who works with children in the community and at Peasedown youth and children’s centre, and partners with neighbouring churches to run popular holiday clubs each term.
