A special concert at Bath Abbey on Thursday 5th June is to celebrate the year of office of Bath’s current Mayor Cllr Malcolm Lees.
The evening in Bath Abbey has been organised by the Mayor with local music man Grenville Jones.
The Mayor said: “The Mayoress and I are really looking forward to this very special occasion when singers and musicians from many of Bath’s leading groups will all join together in a celebration evening.
“During my year of office I have attended a number of our local Goldies daytime singing and activity sessions. This is a small charity that started here in Bath just six years ago. It has now spread to the point where it reaches out to older people across Southern England and Wales.
“When I suggested to Goldies founder Grenville Jones that we should work together on this concert he replied with his usual enthusiasm and the suggestion that the proceeds from the concert should be divided equally between The Mayor of Bath’s Relief Fund and the Goldies Charity.
“I would like to thank Bath Abbey, the Charter Trustees of Bath and the Medlock Trust for their financial support which means that all money from ticket sales will go direct to the benefiting organisations.”
Appearing at the concert will be the mixed-voice Bath Chorus, the Bath Good Afternoon Choir and the Welcome Community Choir.
Also performing will be the children from Oldfield Park Junior School Choir and Bath Spa Band.
The concert will illustrate the range of musical talents in the city and tickets priced £10 (with £8 concessions) are available from Bath Box Office on 01225 463362.
