Christmas is officially arriving at SouthGate in Bath today, Thursday 14th November, when 100 free mulled wines, or the option of a hot chocolate, are being given away to celebrate the festive season.

Shoppers will be able to pick up a winter warmer, along with a complimentary mince pie, from 5pm at the centre’s new pop-up Gingerbread Bar in SouthGate Place.

The festive bar is part of the centre’s Christmas celebrations and will be open every day until Sunday 5th January, serving up seasonal drinks and snacks including gingerbread lattes.

SouthGate’s Christmas takeover will also feature a life-size magical snow globe which shoppers can step inside to try and catch a golden snowflake for a chance to win daily prizes, a giant Christmas tree outside of Bath Spa train station and snowfall in SouthGate Place every hour, on the hour, while the centre is open.

Visitors on Thursday will also be able to send a festive postcard to their loved ones for free with SouthGate’s exclusive Christmas postal service which will run from 11am – 3pm for one day only.

For families looking for a festive day out, Santa is going to be visiting SouthGate on Saturday 23rd November and 21st December.

Little ones will be able to meet the man himself, share their Christmas wish lists and even shake hands with Santa’s toy soldiers.

Guy Henderson, centre manager at SouthGate said: “It just isn’t Christmas until you’ve had your first glass of mulled wine and mince pie, so what better way to welcome the festive period!

“We’ve got something for everyone this year and I’m sure there’ll be a great atmosphere here over the coming weeks as locals and visitors to the city get into the Christmas spirit.”

SouthGate will launch its late night Christmas shopping on 21st November, with the centre open until 8pm every Thursday in the run up to Christmas.
