Local businesses, entrepreneurs and community organisations are being invited to a free business breakfast at St Mark’s School in Bath on Friday, focussing on brand awareness.
Guest speaker at the event will be Andy Fuller of DesignBull, graphic designer and marketing specialist.
DesignBull primarily specialise in creating brand logo identities, websites and advertising, helping businesses with their design and marketing needs and are constantly looking to suggest new routes to help build brands – online and offline.
The event is open to anyone in the local community, from charitable organisations to entrepreneurs, or those just thinking of starting out on their own.
“To build a business or organisation in today’s world you have to work hard and project an image that creates interest to potential clients and customers,” said Andy.
“Unless you have created that first positive impression, you stand nowhere in your business market.”
“Your brand should answer a few simple questions:
- Why should people do business with you?
- Where is your brand positioned in the competitive landscape?
- What message differentiates you?
- Is what you do clear to your target market?”
“In other words, building a successful brand begins with a clear message. The concept must be quick to grasp and easy to understand.”
“Whatever your product or service is, it has to convey a point-of-difference that’s clearly explained and easily grasped. People need to understand the benefits of choosing your brand over the competition’s.”
“I will talk about what makes a great brand – triumphs and disasters – branding do’s and don’ts and show some examples of a logo identity and brand guidelines.”
Organiser of the event, Paula Hawkins, Marketing Manager at St Mark’s School, added: “We are thrilled that Andy is joining us as guest speaker.
“He has enormous experience of creating and designing innovative and stylish brands and comes with a wealth of knowledge to share.”
“For any organisation it’s a vital process to establish yourself amongst the competition and create a brand that represents you and your values.
“Not everyone will have access to in-house expertise and so we hope that Andy will help small and medium-sized business owners and managers to bridge this gap and guide them through the creative processes.”
Headteacher, Barnaby Ash, thanked businesses for their on-going contribution to school life and encouraged anyone interested in attending the business breakfast to get in touch.
He said: “Local businesses are very supportive of St Mark’s School and often give up their time, efforts and energy for a variety of events, from interview training to careers planning and enterprise projects.”
“Our business breakfasts are a way of thanking them for the enrichment that they provide to our students whilst also creating a vibrant forum to help develop new collaborative ideas and partnerships.
“All this and breakfast – what better way to start the day!”
