Heralding a new phase for The Scallop Shell, and after a period of refurbishment and investment in the business, the team have unveiled a new look for dine-in guests.

Downstairs, customers will be able to see in to The Potato Room to see chips prepared on a daily basis, and spot a new staircase leading to the exciting extension upstairs where they will also find a terrace area which will developed ready for the summer.

A mixture of high table, banquette and booth-style seating awaits diners upstairs interspersed with features such as eye-catching tiling, portholes, creative wallpaper, copper piping round the hand-basins and lighting features such as a beautifully lit oak beam.

There is also a second display bath for the restaurant purely for delicious and fresh coastal shellfish enabling diners to pick their own seafood feast to devour – a new addition to the menu.

Garry Rosser, chef/owner at The Scallop Shell said: “We’ve been incredibly excited about sharing the new extension with our customers. It’s been an investment for us and a labour of love for the team.

“There’s a great vibe about the upstairs area and we love all the design elements of the new restaurant which, as an extension to our seating numbers, will mean that customers’ wait time for tables is reduced.

“We’re loving our second display bath too showing off the beautiful fresh shellfish which is predominantly from UK fisheries. We hope this will spark more conversation about the abundance of fantastic seafood from our own shores.”

Property owner HPH Ltd has been instrumental in helping The Scallop Shell with its transformation, working behind the scenes with Bath and North East Somerset Council to help ensure a smooth delivery of the project.

Lindsay Holdoway, Managing Director of HPH Ltd said, “We’re pleased to have been able to help The Scallop Shell to effectively expand their already thriving business to accommodate more customers.

“HPH and The Scallop Shell have worked together from inception to planning to delivery to ensure that this transformation has happened as efficiently as possible and to a high standard.”
