The outline planning application for four-storey Newbridge Towers at 169 Newbridge Hill has been submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council by Alpus Projects Ltd.
The care home closed in January 2022 and planning permission was granted last year to convert the detached property into a private house with 10 en-suite bedrooms and facilities including a gym, games room and cinema room.
Now an alternative proposal is being brought forward to turn Newbridge Towers into 10 self-contained retirement apartments with a mix of one and two bedrooms.
In 2013 plans for an 11-bed care home at the rear of the existing one were approved. These latest proposals say that instead of one large building at the rear, three smaller ones would be created set into the slope of the site.
Existing communal gardens and a patio would be redesigned to enhance outdoor living opportunities.
The plans also include parking at the rear with the reinstatement of a previously approved access road. Nine spaces for residents and guests would be provided.
The deadline for comments is 26th April. The planning reference is 25/00633/OUT.
