The Parks department at Bath & North East Somerset Council has received a high commendation in the Horticulture Week Custodian Awards.
The national awards were launched this year to celebrate the best park, garden, tree and green space management and the Council has been awarded with a high commendation in the Best Urban Parks Team category.
The commendation was awarded at a presentation ceremony yesterday (Thursday, 30th June) at the Chelsea Physic Gardens in London.
Councillor Martin Veal (Conservative, Bathavon North), Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Our unsung Parks team do a fantastic job and they thoroughly deserve this recognition for the work done to maintain our parks and green spaces.
“Their skill and ability create facilities that are not only beautiful but encouraging to use. I would like to thank all the team for their hard work and congratulate them on this achievement.”
Horticulture Week recognised the efforts made by the department to maintain high standards while being entrepreneurial and involved with the community.
The commendation criteria looked to award teams that meet the needs of its customers by achieving improved outcomes for the sites in its care and users of those sites.
