Newton Farm Foods has launched a new contactless home delivery service to the over 70s and vulnerable people isolating at home to ensure residents can continue to access vital provisions.
Doing its bit to keep the cupboards full in homes in and around Bath, Newton Farm Foods has also introduced more rigorous hygiene standards and social distancing measures, with the safety of both staff and customers in mind.
Home produced and locally sourced meats continue to be sold alongside a range of fresh vegetables, eggs, dairy produce, ready meals and store cupboard provisions in their Farm Shop at Newton St Loe.
Staff are packing up pre-ordered boxes of food and delivering them across a 5 mile radius to vulnerable people isolating at home, as well as having a ‘click and contactless collect’ from the car park scheme.
Celia Gay, Director Newton Farm Foods, explained: “Due to the current lockdown situation there is a great demand for high quality foods to be accessible to people unable to get out to shop, and also for those that seek a quiet, safe place to shop.
“We are providing a fresh food and grocery delivery service and have also launched our own Newton Farm Frozen Ready Meals.
“Our café may be closed but you can now have the same great taste and high quality meals, but in your own home.”
John Farrand, managing director of the Guild of Fine Food, added: “As this unprecedented situation continues to unfold and huge change is forced upon us, we all have the opportunity to make an impact on the communities around us and to help shape what happens next.
“It saddens us deeply to see the suffering taking place at home and around the world, but our spirits have been lifted by the inspiring initiatives put in place by many of our members and other independents in the retail market, pulling together and adapting their businesses to better serve the local community.
“This sudden change is already making us think differently about how we interact with the world around us and I hope we can come through the other side of this with greater respect for our planet, our communities and our food.
“The challenges are everywhere, but it’s in all of our interests to ensure that independent food retail is still here in a year’s time, so I’d encourage everyone to use the hashtag #supportlocal on social media to draw attention to the great things these businesses are doing.”
