Bath law firm Royds Withy King has donated old IT equipment worth £100k to a social enterprise which helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain the skills and experience needed to secure work placements and employment.

Social enterprise We Do. IT overhauls IT equipment that is no longer needed by businesses and other organisations so it can be re-used.

The work is carried out by young people keen to gain professional and personal skills that will help to prepare them for the ‘world of work’ and progress careers in IT.

Arthur Hindmarch, Managing Director of business services specialist, Commercial Group, which established We Do. IT as part of its commitment to being a responsible business, said: “We are delighted that Royds Withy King has agreed to donate its legacy equipment to We Do. IT.

“First it will be overhauled, enabling our young people to hone their IT skills, and then it will be recycled into the supply chain.

“Every £1 spent with the social enterprise generates the equivalent of £4.87 in social value, so Royds Withy King’s generosity will be multiplied when we sell the equipment on again.”

Dave Eagle, Head of IT at Royds Withy King, added: “We have undergone a major IT infrastructure upgrade with the help of Commercial IT Services following our recent merger.

“Corporate Social Responsibility is one of our core values which the business is built on, so I’m thrilled that we are able to support We Do.IT and their young people in this way.”

The firm’s ongoing investment in the latest IT platforms ensures that it remains at the forefront of technology and continues to provide a seamless and high quality service to its clients.
