The brasserie is within close proximity to many of the city’s most famous destinations, including Bath Rugby Club, so it seemed like a natural fit to team up with the charitable arm of Bath Rugby, which exists to bridge the gap between Bath’s poorest and most affluent areas and build a positive, supportive community.
The Bath Rugby Foundation sold tickets for the event, hosted by club president David Trick, and also featuring ex-Bath and England player turned TV pundit David Flatman and fly-half for Bath and England, Freddie Burns.
Guests enjoyed a Champagne and canapé reception, followed by a three-course dinner, comprised of The Ivy Bath Brasserie’s classics, such as truffled beef Wellington with creamed potato, baby carrots and red wine sauce and the Ivy chocolate bombe, with milk foam vanilla ice-cream, a honeycomb centre and hot salted caramel sauce.
The beautiful Georgian building in the centre of Milsom Street made the ideal backdrop for the relaxed evening which saw guests listen to some insightful stories from the trio of players, past and present, and included a short auction of three amazing prizes.
All proceeds from the evening, which raised over £9,100 on the night, were donated to the Bath Rugby Foundation.
“It’s been a magnificent evening in a super venue and how fortunate we are that The Ivy Bath Brasserie chose us as a charity and have put this all on for us,” said David Trick, president of the club and fundraiser at Bath Rugby Foundation.
“Rugby is such an important part of the fabric of Bath, so we knew we wanted to get involved and support the brilliant work of The Bath Rugby Foundation when we opened in the city,” said Katja Kammerer, General Manager at The Ivy Bath Brasserie.
“We’re thrilled that our first event was such a success, and can see this becoming an annual fixture in the The Ivy Bath Brasserie calendar.”
