A brand new 202-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel in Bath has reached a significant milestone with the building’s structure being ‘Topped Out’ ahead of its planned opening early next year.
The six-storey hotel, on James St West in the city centre, is being developed by Dominvs Group and constructed by McAleer & Rushe.
The finished site will include a bar, restaurant and gym at street level.
The project is supporting Bath’s spatial strategy, which seeks to bring more hotels to the city and the development of intricate and contemporary buildings, that will stay true to the soul of the area.
Jay Ahluwalia, Director of Dominvs Group, said: “We are thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone for our Hampton by Hilton hotel in Bath. This past year has been extremely difficult for the industry and reaching this point in the development ahead of schedule, is testament to the brilliant individuals and teams working across the project.
“Once the hotel opens next year, it will serve as a vibrant and social hub for the local community which will be vital in supporting Bath’s post-pandemic recovery.”
Construction began in September 2019 and 120 workers are due on site at peak construction level.
The structure includes a reinforced concrete frame with a façade of sustainably sourced Bath stone and a zinc effect cladding.
The site was previously occupied by Bath College’s Allen Building, before it was sold to Dominvs Group in 2017.
Commenting, Mark Diamond, Senior Director at McAleer & Rushe said: “There has certainly been several obstacles to overcome the past year and our team have shown great determination to get us to where we are today.
“We are incredibly grateful to have a longstanding relationship with Dominvs that is based on collaboration and trust especially during such difficult times and this project is a prime example of its success.
“This begins the final chapter of the construction and we look forward to delivering the hotel on time and to the highest quality.”
Nick Smart from Hilton Worldwide added: “Despite what has been a challenging year, we are proud of our partners and their perseverance to bring the project to this stage.
“The finish line is in sight and this hotel will be a shining light in our portfolio and the historic city of Bath.”
