Boston Tea Party has announced plans to use less water at its Bath cafés as part of its sustainability commitment, following their recent decision to ban the use of disposable takeaway cups.
It’s the latest move by the ethical coffee shop chain, which has 22 cafés across the south west and midlands, to ensure it protects the environment.
The company has always monitored its water usage and made reductions where possible, but will now be working with an industry specialist to further improve its sustainability contribution.
Using less water at its cafés means less needs to be taken from the environment to supply its business and less wastewater is then treated, which saves energy.
The news is likely to be welcomed by customers, who have already responded positively to the company switching to paper straws, replacing plastic bottles and recently banning single use coffee cups from 1st June.
Experts from water2business will be working with Boston Tea Party to look at how it can use water more efficiently.
This is part of Boston Tea Party’s purpose of #makingthingsbetter, identifying areas that they can have a positive impact on their communities and the environment wherever possible.
The partnership enables Boston Tea Party to explore ways water is used to further enhance its sustainability values while at the same time reducing operational costs – a win-win.
