John’s Bikes, Bath’s longest serving cycle shop, has new owners with a track record of investing in independent bike shops in the south west.
Three years ago, they acquired BikeUK in Clifton, Bristol and Ralph Colman in Taunton, a shop with over 80 years of history.
Investment has gone into both shops, and recognition came last year with BikeUK being voted one of the UK’s Top20 independent bikes shops.
“We have a great deal of respect for John’s Bikes heritage,” said Managing Director Lyle Finlay, “and will be faithful to that, just as we have been at our Ralph Colman shop, but within our goal of serving our customers’ needs well.”
In just two weeks under new ownership, display stock has more than doubled, plus the brands Orange, Whyte, Focus, Orbea and Castelli have been added to the range.
“John’s Bikes now has the much wider selection of products needed to serve customers well, and we are not finished yet,” Lyle added, “as by December we will have the widest bike range in Bath.”
To mark the change of ownership John’s bikes has a range of offers for old, existing and new customers.
Lyle said: “Anyone buying anything before Christmas can choose between a free gift – we simply want people to back and have a look.”
