Vanguard Self Storage, the city’s latest storage provider, held a grand opening at its site on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath earlier this month.

Guests gathered to experience the purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility, which provides 45,000 square feet of storage space.
Residents and businesses, customers, employees, friends and family, and the architects behind the new development came together to mark the opening.
Hosted in the main atrium under the suspended and restored Vampire WZ450, attendees were able to admire the aircraft while standing alongside another piece of aviation heritage, one of the first turbojet engines, the de Havilland Goblin.
The event featured special addresses from Rennie Schafer, the CEO of the Self-Storage Association, and RAF pilot and author, Air Marshal G.A. ‘Black’ Robinson, who spoke about pilots who risked their lives to push boundaries, drawing a parallel to the courage involved in starting a new business.

This was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Mayor of Bath, Councillor Michelle O’Doherty, who officially opened the facility with a ceremonial snip of the ribbon.
Councillor Michelle O’Doherty said: “I speak on behalf of all the residents and businesses locally in welcoming Vanguard Self Storage to our beautiful city.
“It’s inspiring to see a new development that adds to the architectural character of the area. With Vanguard’s clear commitment to quality and innovation, I have no doubt the business will thrive and become a valued part of the community.”
Commenting on the Vampire, Air Marshal G.A. ‘Black’ Robinson, added: “It was an honour to be invited to speak at such a unique event.
“As someone with a lifelong involvement in aviation, I much admire Vanguard’s continued commitment to incorporating historic artefacts into the heart of its facilities. Vanguard truly knows how to create, combine and showcase British excellence.”
Will McCullagh, Managing Director of Vanguard Self Storage, said: “We have been trying to open a store in Bath for more than 10 years, so we are very pleased to finally be here.
“We were delighted to welcome those involved in the project and the local community to join us for the opening of our latest store.”
