Bath’s largest law firm, Withy King, has committed to taking part in the ‘Million Makers Challenge’, a national business initiative which raises money for The Prince’s Trust.

The Million Makers scheme sees businesses throughout the UK create fundraising teams to raise a minimum of £10,000 in six months, collectively raising £1m for the Prince’s Trust in 2015.

Withy King’s Million Makers’ team has come up with an innovative fitness initiative called “bizfit”, as its core fundraising idea.

Withy King is taking up the challenge to get local businesses to sign up a team to the “bizfit 30 day step challenge” to help promote and increase fitness and wellbeing within their organisations.

Proceeds from the challenge entry fee will be donated to The Prince’s Trust.

The first challenge will start on 1st September.

Each team member will be given a pedometer and challenged to log their steps each day throughout September on bizfit’s website www.withyking.co.uk/bizfit with a leader board being updated daily.

At the end of the 30 day challenge the business that has logged the most number of steps averaged out against the number of members in their team will win the challenge.

Withy King intends to run the same challenge in October with a ‘Champion of Champions’ challenge in November.

At the end of the challenge, the overall winner will be awarded a special prize at an awards event.

Claire Fennell Recruitment Manager and member of the Million Makers Team from Withy King, said: “I was at the Million Makers’ launch event and felt compelled to sign up after hearing some inspiring stories and along with 10 of my colleagues we have taken up the challenge.

“Every penny that we raise will be donated to the Prince’s Trust and for all monies raised over £10,000 and up to £15,000 Withy King will be match funding so we have a real opportunity to make a difference to young people’s lives.

“We hope to raise the majority of the £10,000 target through this initiative and are really excited about engaging with the local business community to promote this.”

Withy King launched their initiative internally to all employees on 26 June and encouraged colleagues to don their PE Kits for a sports day themed launch day.

Among their various activities, employees took part in the inaugural Withy King ‘Plank Off’ competition, where colleagues competed against each other to see who could maintain their plank for the longest.

Withy King staff also munched away on a lovely array of fruit kindly donated by Bath caterers The Lunch Company and Out to Lunch.

Claire continued: “This generated a real buzz in the office and we were delighted colleagues really embraced this.”

Watch out for updates on seeing if Withy King can hit their £10,000 target by 8th December.
