Bath has been crowned the winner of Best UK City in the prestigious Luxury Lifestyle Magazine Readers’ Travel Awards for 2018, beating off competition from ten other cities across the country.

In addition, the boutique hotel No.15 Great Pulteney Street has been recognised in three categories: Best Boutique Hotel; Best City Hotel and Best Newcomer.

Beating off stiff competition from ten other cities from across the UK to take the coveted title, Bath was the favourite of well-travelled readers of Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, and impressed judges in the final round to become the first ever winner of the accolade.

As a city built for wellbeing and indulgence, Bath is the perfect destination for a city break.

The UNESCO World Heritage city is renowned for its beautiful Georgian architecture, Roman remains, diverse attractions and thermal spa waters. Festivals bring life and vibrancy to this beautiful city, whilst boutique shops and independent restaurants make this a truly modern city which caters to visitors of every budget.

The awards, run by Luxury Lifestyle Magazine in partnership with Salcombe Gin, saw thousands of readers nominate their picks of some of the industry’s most astonishing travel destinations and show-stopping hotels, across a variety of travel related categories.

Designed to reward the travel industry elite for excellence in a number of categories, winners were eventually selected by an expert panel of judges according to a strict set of criteria.

David James, Chief Executive of Visit Bath said: “We are delighted to be crowned the Best UK City by Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, ahead of capital cities such as London and Edinburgh, and our neighbour Bristol.

“Bath is a modern city which combines elegant architecture and remarkable attractions with contemporary spa facilities, a lively calendar of festivals and an enticing range of accommodation, from luxury five-star hotels to boutique guesthouses.

“All of this makes Bath the perfect city break destination for visitors from the UK and abroad.

“We also congratulate No.15 Great Pulteney on their success in the awards. This boutique hotel offers a unique stay for visitors to the city, and as a relative newcomer to the city it is fantastic to see that their outstanding offering is already being recognised.”

Luxury Lifestyle Magazine editor, Nick Gilmartin, explained that competition was fierce – and that winners should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

He said: “We’re thrilled to have finally been able to unveil the first ever winners of the Luxury Lifestyle Magazine Readers’ Travel Awards.

“At Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, we’re not just about luxury – we look out for those hotels, destinations and travel companies which have something truly special to offer, going above and beyond the expected to offer a really outstanding experience.

“We have our readers to thank for helping us find some of them, and after a great deal of deliberation, we can confidently say that our deserving winners are the very finest the industry has to offer.”
