The ever-popular Bath Christmas Market has been presented with the esteemed Event of the Year award at the recent NOEA’s 2017 Awards Ceremony.

NOEA, The National Outdoor Events Association is the UK’s leading outdoor events trade association and their awards are reserved for the very best in the industry.

Judges praised Bath Christmas Market saying it was the “best of Bath, well produced and internationally attractive, setting standards for other Christmas markets”.

Bath Christmas Market, now in its 17th year, is one of the largest shopping events in the South West. This year’s Bath Christmas Market is set to be the biggest and best yet, spreading festive magic across the picturesque city from 23rd November to 10th December, as over 200 decorated wooden chalets brimming with charming gifts and artisan produce line the streets in the heart of Bath.

As the judges noted, Bath Christmas Market presents the best of Bath, with over 80% of produce sold coming from Bath and the South West.

Unlike many Christmas markets around the country, Bath Christmas Market has strict selection criteria to ensure that products have a real provenance and connection with the region.

99% of products are either handmade by the chalet holder, handmade in Britain or handmade abroad with fair trade certificates, setting high standards for other Christmas markets.

David James, Chief Executive of Visit Bath, the organisation who brings the Christmas Market to Bath, said: “We are immensely proud that Bath Christmas Market has been named by NOEA as Event of the Year, this is an outstanding achievement which recognises that our event is the best in the UK.

“Bath Christmas Market is a magical event which brings vibrancy to the city in the run up to Christmas.

“The team at Visit Bath work tirelessly to ensure the success of the event every year so it is fantastic to see their hard word rewarded with national recognition.”

Bath Christmas Market was awarded with Event of the Year at NOEA’s annual awards ceremony which took place at the Roman Baths and Pump Room on Wednesday 22nd November.

Bath Christmas Market was up against strong competition, but pipped Culture Liverpool, Henley Festival and Swansea Council to the post.
