Bath Building Society has opened its popular annual Charity Awards to entries from charities and community organisations across the city.
The Awards; now in their ninth year, were established to support as many local initiatives as possible from the growing number of requests that the Society receives each week asking for support.
The initiative offers a number of cash grants of £1,500 (one), £1,000 (three) and £500 (four), plus hot air balloon tickets (three pairs) that the charities can use to raise more funds.
Chief Executive of the Society Dick Jenkins, said: “Since we launched the Awards nine years ago the number of applications has increased year on year, and through the programme we aim to help as many community groups and charities in the West Country as possible.
“There are so many small groups that are located in our patch that are striving to help as many people as possible. We want to be able to help them do their work which is so important.”
Each application received will be reviewed by a panel of Judges led by Dick Jenkins, Chief Executive of the Society, and the selected winners will be invited to attend an Awards ceremony at The Mayors Parlour in July.
If entering the Awards, the Charity or Community Group must:
- Complete a Bath Building Society Charity Awards application form (this can be found on the Society’s website at http://bit.ly/1HbD5Xt or by emailing Tiffany at [email protected]);
- Have a turnover of £200,000 or less per year, and;
- Operate and benefit people in Bath Building Society’s business areas of Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Bristol.
Bath Gateway Out & About won one of the grants last year (£1,000) and they also became the Charity of the Year.
They offer a varied weekly programme of age appropriate social and leisure activities for adults with learning disabilities.
In February this year Becky Morgan who runs the Club set up a second club helped by the grant they gave them; through the Awards, and the money that was raised by the Society throughout the year.
Application forms can be downloaded from the Society’s website: http://www.bathbuildingsociety.co.uk/about-us/our-community-work/the-charity-awards or the form can be sent out as a PDF or Word version via email by contacting Tiffany Hardie-Albutt at [email protected]
Completed entries must be with the Society by 5pm on Monday 8th June.
