Bath-based mail-order wine merchant Novel Wines has won the coveted ‘Best Wine Merchant’ award for 2018, in the annual Muddy Stilletos awards which celebrate unique and unmissable businesses.

Thousands of people in Somerset voted in the yearly awards held by Muddy Stilettos, a lifestyle blog celebrating unique and unmissable businesses in over 15 different counties.

For Bath and Somerset, voters could support their favourite local businesses in 24 different lifestyle categories, ranging from Best Art Gallery to Best Restaurant.

Novel Wines was voted Best Wine Merchant, a significant achievement for a business that is just 18 months old.

Ben Franks, Novel Wines’ CEO, said he felt “honoured and grateful to all the amazing customers who supported the company by voting”.

This achievement will be a further reason to celebrate with their second Annual Wine Tasting Party, which will take place at the Hilton City Hotel in Bath on the 22nd September.

The annual event marks the second anniversary since Novel Wines started trading and is one of the city’s largest wine tasting events.

Novel Wines aims to make the party an established tradition in Bath after hosting their original wine tasting launch party in 2016.

Last year, Novel Wines celebrated turning 1 by showcasing over 150 different wines to 250 attendees at their Annual Party.

“In 2018 we are going to showcase even more of our eclectic wine list. We aim to put Bath on the map as a hotspot for adventurous wine lovers.” said Gyorgy Zsiga, Novel Wines co-founder.

“The event lets our customers travel the world through their senses and our regulars look forward to our big event every Autumn.”

Shortly after winning the prestigious Muddy Stilettos Award, founders Ben and Gyorgy announced they would be hiring their first member of staff, Marina Pellegrini, in a Sales & Marketing role.

The local wine merchant is now looking to new horizons to grow its business for unique and unusual wines.
