New bakery and café planned in former fish and chip shop premises

There are plans to turn a former fish and chip shop in Bath into an independent artisan bakery and café.

Bath & North East Somerset Council is being asked to approve the scheme for Brume Bakery in what was Seafoods at 38 Kingsmead Street in the city centre, which is Grade II listed. The takeaway closed in August last year.

As well as reconfiguring the inside, minor changes outside will include new signage, paint colours, a swing sign and a replacement awning. There will also be outdoor seating.

The proposed daily opening hours are 7am to 5pm, and Brume Bakery plans to employ five full-time employees.

Any comments on the proposals and the application for listed building consent should be sent to the council by 13th August.

The planning reference is 26/02497/FUL.
