Three graduates from Bath Spa University have been selected for the Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Student Awards 2014.
BA (Hons) Creative Media Practice graduates Mark Ranson and Joe Farr, and Theo Millard Watkins have been nominated in the Best Fiction category for their projects ‘Work’ and ‘Boxed’ respectively.
‘Work’ was written and directed by Mark and Joe and is short film about a man working late in his office who is over worked, tired and starting to lose focus. Slowly, his world begins to crumble.
Theo wrote and directed ‘Boxed’ which is a short black comedy focusing on three criminals as they lay low after carrying out a burglary.
The idiocy of his fellow criminals drives one of the trio to consider fleeing with the mysterious loot they have procured.
The RTS Student Television Awards recognise the best audio-visual work created by full or part-time students as part of their course.
The West of England Student Awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday 11th February at the Watershed, Bristol with a keynote speech by Creative Director of Icon Films, Harry Marshall.
Commenting on the students’ nominations, Senior Lecturer in Creative Media Practice Nic Jeune said: “Within the film and television industry the Royal Television Society Awards hold as much significance as the BAFTAS. To be nominated is a great honour for these Bath Spa graduates and they justly deserve their night in the spotlight.”
The regional winners of each category will then be considered for the national Awards which are announced at a ceremony in May held in central London.
