The towpath alongside the River Avon between Victoria Bridge and Windsor Bridge in Bath will be closed for approximately six weeks in the autumn.

Victoria Bridge reopened in January following a major refurbishment, and now the Destructor Bridge is being replaced.
From 21st September – 30th October, essential preparatory work will be undertaken by Britannia Construction on behalf of Crest Nicholson ahead of the installation of a new bridge early next year.
During the closure of the towpath a signposted diversion will be in place along Upper Bristol Road.
Outside of these dates the towpath will remain open, although it may be necessary to reduce the width of the path at times.
The new bridge, designed by award winning consultants Flint and Neill along with Knight Architects, will replace the former single lane Destructor Bridge and will accommodate two-way traffic as well as offering new wider footways and a cycle lane.
It forms part of Crest Nicholson’s Bath Riverside development which is delivering much-needed new homes on a former brownfield site adjacent to the river.
