Hundreds of homes in Bath lost power this evening after a fault caused by the stormy weather cut off supplies to large parts of the city.
Bathford initially lost power at around 7.45pm with Bathwick also experiencing a loss of power.
The power cut quickly spread to Bathampton and Charlcombe.
Homes across Bath experienced flickering lights as local sub-stations struggled to maintain a current.
At around 8.40pm a large flash was seen across Bath, with power being lost to other parts of the city.
The Bath television transmitter on Bathampton lost power at 8.37pm and went off air. It resumed transmission at 8.43pm.
The FM transmitter providing BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as local services reported as being off air until 8.47pm.
Western Power Distribution say 15,000 homes across the South West have been affected by power cuts this evening, caused by the stormy weather.
