Local ladies are once again weaving their magic to raise funds for Kids Company, with committed enthusiasts and willing novices meeting fortnightly for coffee and crochet.
They are creating hearts for a yarn bombing project ready for installation in time for Bath in Fashion 2015 (21-29th March ) in the centre of Bath.
The project is being co-ordinated by local textural artists Emma Leith.
Emma is running regular drop-in workshops that cost nothing but laughter as all the wool and crochet hooks are provided free of charge.
For every heart created Cass Art, the UK’s leading art supplies retailer with a shop now in Bristol will pledge 10p for Kids Company, the Bath in Fashion 2015 nominated charity.
If you want to crochet in the comfort of your own home you can download the pattern from yarn bombing maestro Emma Leith: http://emmaleith.co.uk/crochet-heart-pattern.
Dates for Crochet for Charity sessions: Wednesday 4th ,18th February and 4th and 18th March 10.00 am – 12.00 noon (Carluccio’s at Milsom Place)
Yarnbombing, graffiti with wool is an urban art that humanises public spaces.
It’s an interaction between materials and places and at its heart lies an intention to awaken people to their surroundings often injecting humour into everyday objects.
It’s an old craft with a contemporary twist. For Bath in Fashion 2015, expect to see something rather heart-warming in the flower baskets on Milsom Street.
You can send your finished roses before 16th March to Emma Leith White Cottage Devizes Road, Box, Wiltshire SN138DY or drop it into Wool 19 Old Orchard St, Bath, Bath and North East Somerset BA1 1JU.
Bath in Fashion will be running workshops, exhibitions, catwalks, talks and shopping events from 21-29 March 2014 with tickets on sale from 2nd February.
