Delivery company annatrans solutions is stepping in to help Bath’s Foodbank transport donated food to its warehouse.
annatrans solutions, which is based in Weston, Bath, is donating its vehicles and staff time to the project which is using around two tonnes of food a month.
The Foodbank helps those identified as being in immediate need of three days emergency food supply.
Donations of packaged and tinned food can be made at the regular supermarket collections held by volunteers or at the Manvers Street Baptist Church distribution centre in Bath.
Paul Harrison, sales manager at annatrans solutions, said: “Being based in Bath we also wanted to play our part in helping the community and this seems a practical way of using our resources to help others.
“The Food Bank is a vital service helping those in need at a time when they are struggling. By offering this free service to the volunteers it also frees up money for the Food Bank to spend on other areas of their offering.”
Paul was invited to a civic reception held to thank the Food Bank’s volunteers and supporters by the chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Council Cllr. Neil Butters
David Purdon – Chairman of Bath Food Bank said: “Due to the rapid growth of demand we were having problems with collecting food donations. We are very grateful for the support of annatrans Delivery Service with their kind offer to regularly collect voluntarily food from various points in the city and deliver it to our central warehouse in Bathampton.
“We appreciate the Chairman’s support in hosting the Civic Reception to thank our supporters within the business community of Bath and to inform potential new business supporters of the work we are doing to help families experiencing crisis at this moment in time.”
