Art and Design students at the City of Bath College want to put you in the picture about their talents, in an upcoming show.

The up-and-coming artists and designers will be showcasing their innovative and inspiring work at the ever-popular end of year Visual Arts show.

Next week’s five-day exhibition is a celebration of more than 200 students’ hard work and commitment.

It will feature a diverse range of art, including fine art, 3D, textiles, photography, printmaking and new media.

The students are making the most of this opportunity to get their work seen before many of them go on to study at some of the country’s top universities.

The Art and Design department has an excellent reputation for producing young artists and has been graded ‘outstanding’ for four consecutive Ofsted inspections.

It has taken Level 3 Art and Design student Evie McGuckian-Jones about six weeks to complete her final project of a breakfast display made out of felt.

She has painstakingly sewn together everything you’d expect to find on a breakfast table, including cereal, toast, jam, bacon, egg and sausages, as well as plates, a tea pot, cutlery and even tomato ketchup.

Evie, 18, said: “I came up with the idea after looking at the iconic packaging of cereal boxes. I kept getting more ideas of what to make and the idea slowly grew in size.

“I’m really pleased with how it looks laid out on the table, it really does look like a breakfast good enough to eat!”

Level 3 Art and Design student Anton Jackson is displaying a series of five paintings to take people on a journey through his life.

The 18-year-old, who is going on to study illustration at the University of Gloucestershire, said: “I’m excited about having my work on display; I’m pleased with how my work turned out.

“My final project is based on what has influenced me in my life. I took lots of photos of iconic imagery around the house then created a series of images which lean towards the pop art style.

“It’s going to be interesting to see what people think of our art, I hope they enjoy it as there will be a bit of everything on show.”

Everyone is welcome at the Art and Design end of year show at City of Bath College from Monday, June 17th to Friday, June 21st, from 10am to 6pm.
