A major city centre location is being sold by Bath & North East Somerset Council in a bid for developers to buy the land and regenerate the site.

The area being sold by the Council comprises the Cattlemarket and Corn Market on Walcot Street.

The combined sites, which cover just under an acre of land, are being offered to the market and could be developed for residential, restaurant, office or retail space.

Councillor David Bellotti (Lib-Dem, Lyncombe), Cabinet Member for Community Resources, said, “This is a really exciting opportunity for new development on a site whose potential, located in the heart of Bath, has never been realised. Here is a chance to open-up this part of the city to the River Avon.

“Bath & North East Somerset Council is looking for imaginative, high quality proposals that will regenerate this site linking Walcot Street with the rest of the retail offer in Bath city centre.

“We are looking for experienced developers, particularly in relation to the Cornmarket which is a Grade II listed building built in 1855 requiring some restoration works.”

Interested developers are asked to contact the Council’s agents, Cushman & Wakefield, on 020 7935 5000.
