Megan McMinn, a 22-year-old from Bath, has beaten over 1000 curvy women from around the world and made it to the top 10 of the annual Star in a Bra competition.

The competition is a model search to become the new face and body of D plus underwear brand, Curvy Kate.

After previously trying her hand at modelling in her teenage years, Megan was put off due to negative comments about her appearance but has decided to challenge the critics once more and be a positive role model for other girls.

Curvy Kate first selected Megan to be in the top 25 of the competition and after an intense online vote was later chosen to be in the top 10 with 9 other curvy international women.

These women from all over the world attended a Curvy Kate make-over and photoshoot in London and the professional photos have now been released so the winner of Star in a Bra 2015 can be crowned by a final public vote.

The champion will now join the brand’s curvy line up at their summer shoot, enjoy an all-expense paid trip to the Mediterranean for two with £1000 spending money and also be awarded a year-long modelling contract with Bridge Models Limited.

Megan said: “I love the idea of representing a brand that preaches diversity and body positivity.

“As a teenager I had some experience in the modelling world, however I was soon put off by derogatory comments photographers and stylists would make about my curves.

“I was told I was too big for samples and that I needed extra contouring on my face to make it appear thinner – the industry really made me question myself.”

“I think working alongside Curvy Kate would be an incredibly body positive experience, and to win would help to take away the bitter taste my previous modelling experience left behind.”

With the public outcry for the use of more realistic images in the media, the Star in a Bra competition champions the use of customer role models and promotes a positive approach to body image, which all women can relate to.

Known for their use of non-professional models, Curvy Kate show their fans exactly how their lingerie will look and fit on a variety of body shapes, cementing the message there isn’t one type of ‘perfect body’.

With a ‘open to all policy’ and a message of diversity and fun, Curvy Kate want to find a confident girl with killer curves to model in all their PR and Marketing campaigns.

To vote for Megan, or your favourite curves, head to www.starinabra.com or vote via the Curvy Kate Facebook page.
