A promotional initiative to help make Bath residents and visitors more aware of the various cultural events taking place in the city has been launched thanks to the efforts of the Bath BID company.

Dressing the city with high level cross road posters and lamp post banners is something that Bath has historically not implemented since they require planning permission and qualified people to install them.

The Chief Executive of Bath BID Company, Andrew Cooper said: “We receive lots of requests from event managers who want to be able to dress the city in this way to market their events when they take place.

“Lamp post banners are common place in most towns and cities as it makes it easier for people to be aware of them. However, it is more complex in a world heritage city as we don’t want the city to appear cluttered or constantly covered in promotional material.

“What is required is a coordinated approach and importantly qualified people to coordinate the high level installation and removal of the banners which is where the BID rangers come in.

“By working alongside the planning department we have worked out a solution which will allow us to erect temporary banners on lamp posts and at high level across central city streets, for a set number of weeks a year.

“We are delighted to have helped make this happen and the first banners have just been installed to promote the Bath Literature Festival.”

Anyone interested in making use of this unique advertising space should contact the Bath BID on 01225 430640.
