Award-winning Bath-based chartered accountancy firm Milsted Langdon has taken positive steps to reduce its impact on the environment switching to a paperless office system.
The firm has implemented Virtual Cabinet, a document management system designed for professional firms which organises, stores and retrieves incoming, outgoing and internal documents, removing the need for partners and staff to rely on hard paper copies.
The new system went live on 3rd March, with all employees being provided with training to ensure a smooth transition.
Partner Simon Rowe, who has spearheaded the initiative, said: “As a firm, we have always embraced new technology and this includes using Virtual Cabinet.
“We recognised that freeing ourselves from paper files would enable us to work more flexibly and efficiently thereby providing a better service to our clients.”
“The rate of change in the market place is a major consideration. We need a system we can be confident in and that will evolve over time.
“The developers of Virtual Cabinet made us feel that they have a coherent product road-map and even 10 years down the road, we will still be happy with our decision.”
“By its very nature, the accountancy profession has always relied heavily on using pieces of paper. However, it has also modernised in the sense that much of the work we now do can be done using a computer.
“It therefore made sense for us to go even further and switch to being completely paperless by using Virtual Cabinet.
“While it is early days yet, we are confident that this will have a positive impact on the way we do business, helping us work in an even more efficient manner.”
