Avon and Somerset Police are asking for help to trace a man whose dog attacked and bit a 13-year-old boy near the Bath Riverside development.

It happened on Thursday 29th May at 7.30pm. The boy was playing with a rugby ball with a friend when the man walked past with two dogs, one a lurcher and the other a short-haired Staffordshire terrier-cross.

The Staffy ran at the boy and bit him twice on the knee, causing two puncture wounds that needed hospital treatment.

After the attack the man called the dog and walked off in the direction of Sainsbury’s.

He is white, aged 25-30, of slim build, 5ft 6ins tall with dark hair and spoke with a possibly slight American accent.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has any information is asked to call Bath police on 101 quoting crime reference number 54009/14.
