Organisers of a charity bike ride in Bradford-on-Avon are appealing for cyclists to take part in this year’s event, which will see money being raised to support local disabled children.
Now in its fourth year, George’s Marvellous Bike Ride (GMBR) raises money to support children, young adults and their families in the local area facing the challenges of disability.
This year all proceeds will be donated to Stepping Stones Specialist Centre for children with special needs in Trowbridge and also for the Jonah Wright Appeal – both local causes that rely heavily on donations and fundraising.
The event takes place on Sunday 6th September during the Bradford-on-Avon cycling festival and will include rides of various distances (ranging from 8.5 to 58.8 miles) along the Kennet & Avon canal, two tunnels cycle route and through central Bath.
GMBR was established in 2012 in memory of George Hutchings who died from cerebral palsy age 9.
One of the event organisers, and George’s uncle, Nick Hutchings said, “George’s Marvellous Bike Ride is an event suitable for the whole family and all abilities and we’re really hoping that lots of people will sign up for one of the rides to raise much needed cash for these local causes.
“In the past we have had fantastic support from the local community, but this year we want the event to be even bigger and better and more importantly raise more money than ever before.”
