The Highways Agency are introducing the warning signs on the stretch of the A46 which has seen many serious crashes over the past few years.
This comes after discussions between Bath & North East Somerset Council and the Highways Agency last year which considered the accident record on the A46 at Hartley Bends.
The Highways Agency said at the time that they would have to bid for funds to invest in measures to address this problem during 2013/14.
The road is also being resurfaced while the work to install the new signs takes place.
A spokesperson from the Highways Agency said: “We are very pleased to be able to introduce these signs which should significantly help to improve safety by giving drivers additional warning that they are approaching the bends.
“The work is being carried out at night between 8pm and 6am when traffic flows are at their lowest and to make the most of the closure we are also undertaking resurfacing work at the same time; this will reduce the need for further closures for resurfacing in the future, so reducing disruption to road users..
The A46 will close overnight from Tuesday 18th March between the A46 Batheaston Roundabout and Cold Ashton Roundabout at 8pm. It will re-open again at 6am each day.
It is expected to be completed by the end of April.
A temporary speed limit on the bends put in place at the start of December has already seen a drop in the number of incidents on the road, with signage advising drivers to slow to 30mph.
There have been calls by local residents to make the 30mph speed limit on the bends a permanent measure.
