A serious crash on the A46 at Upper Swainswick on Saturday evening left three people in need of hospital treatment.
The incident on Hartley Bends on the A46 north of Bath happened at just after 8.30pm.
The head-on collision on the bends required Avon Fire and Rescue’s firefighters to use specialist hydraulic cutting equipment to cut a trapped passenger free.
The people involved were all believed to be in their 20s. They were taken to the RUH by ambulance.
The scene is a well known accident blackspot in Bath, with a number of serious incidents happening there over the past few years. Two crashes at the spot in the last five years were fatal.
The Highways Agency is currently working with Bath and North East Somerset Council to improve safety on the stretch of road.
