Newlyweds Katie and Steve Groves will be walking from Bath all the way to Cornwall to raise funds for Frenchay After Burns Children’s Club and The Katie Piper Foundation.
Katie’s niece Ella was just 3 years old when she suffered burn injuries. These injuries have gone on to affect the way in which she lives her life.
Katie said: “Raising awareness is so important for me, the two charities mean a lot too as they have helped with support and inspiration. Seeing how this has affected the life of my beautiful niece Ella, it is clear that awareness needs to be raised regarding disfigurements: in schools, in the workplace and even in the street. The two charities provide support and encouragement to those in similar situations with burns and scars.”
A Send Off Event is being held at Kingston Parade near The Abbey from 10:30am to 1:00pm on Sunday 3rd November, which is also the starting point for the 6-day walk.
There will be cake from local Velvet Teas, Soup from Eat 5 Star and Bagels from The Whole Bagel Shop.
A raffle is taking place at 12:00pm and with prizes like Helicopter Rides and 7 night holidays, you don’t want to be the only one without a ticket.
