Now is your chance to join in with a beautiful walk along the Kennet and Avon canal and raise funds to help build a pioneering new Cancer Centre for the RUH.
You can choose to take on the full 21 mile challenge or you can sign up to walk in either the morning or the afternoon. Every section of the canal is beautiful, so the choice is yours.
- Full day – Devizes to Bradford-On-Avon to Bath – 21 miles
- Morning section – Devizes to Bradford-On-Avon – 12 miles
- Afternoon section – Bradford-On-Avon to Bath – 9 miles
The Walk of Life, sponsored by Mogers Solicitors, is open to both men and women and you need to be able to walk at least 3.5 miles per hour.
The walk sets off in the morning from Devizes Wharf, passes through Bradford-On-Avon and arrives in Sydney Gardens in Bath. There are marshals with refreshments at various points along the route, and a goody bag waiting for you at the end.
Help spread the word to your friends, family and colleagues and encourage them to walk with you. Entry is just £15 per person and they ask all their walkers to aim to raise as much as possible for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign – transforming care for patients and their families.
The RUH Cancer Care Campaign aims to raise £5million over the next four years towards the cost of a pioneering new Cancer Centre at the RUH. The RUH treats over 2000 new cancer patients every year. Every day the disease indiscriminately alters people’s lives.
Whilst the levels of clinical skills offered by the medical team at the RUH are amongst the best in the UK, the facilities are far from ideal. The new Cancer Centre aims to balance clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
It will be centred on patient care and experience, reducing stress and anxiety, whilst promoting health and thereby embracing a ‘holistic’ approach for patients and their families.
