Local people’s views are being sought on how Bath & North East Somerset Council should plan for the accommodation needs of the local Gypsy and Traveller population.

An Issues and Options paper has been published for public consultation setting out the main issues relating to how sites should be provided and asking for people to come forward with information on possible sites.

The Council is planning to provide 22 permanent residential pitches, 20 transit pitches and 1 Travelling Showpeople yard across the District, as required by the evidence collected in the 2007 Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA). That evidence, alongside information on the consultation document and contact details are available to view on the dedicated webpages: http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/planningfortravellers.

This is your chance to shape how sites are selected and to tell us what kind and size of sites should be provided. Any comments on the document or information on sites that may potentially be suitable for allocation can be sent in using the Response Forms that are available to download from the dedicated webpages. The closing date for consultation is 16 January 2012.
