Two of Britain’s top Olympic breaststrokers of all time met at the University of Bath as part of a BBC Scotland sports programme being screened tonight on television.

David Wilkie set a world record to win Olympic gold in the 200m breaststroke at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 and followed that up with silver in the 100m breaststroke.

He came to the Bath to interview University of Bath student Michael Jamieson, who won silver in the 200m breaststroke at the London 2012 Olympics.

Jamieson, who has just won the 2013 University of Bath Sports Personality of the Year award, trains at British Swimming’s Bath Intensive Training Centre.

The interview was part of BBC Two Scotland programme about Scotland’s most successful Commonwealth Games sport, swimming. Both Wilkie and Jamieson have contributed to that success, with Wilkie winning two golds and a silver at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, along with a bronze at Edinburgh in 1970, while Jamieson collected 200m breaststroke silver at the Delhi 2010 Games.

Jamieson adds to aim to his tally at next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The programme, Sport Nation, is being screened at 8.30pm on tonight, Thursday 16th May. You don’t have to be in Scotland to catch it, you can view it on the Sky platform on channel 970.
