The head chef of one of Bath’s most popular restaurants has returned to City of Bath College to work with the next generation of masterchefs.
Stuart Ash, Head Chef at Woods restaurant and a former City of Bath College catering student, spends one day a week at College working with young catering apprentices.
Stuart said: “We work on some classical cooking, but put a bit of a modern twist on the dishes.
“In the workplace cooks are always under a lot of pressure, so it’s good to work with the apprentices in the kitchens at the College, where they have a bit more time to listen, learn and perfect their skills.
“They are a good bunch. They work very hard and are doing really well. If they keep working hard there’s no reason they can’t be very successful in the industry.”
Stuart said he was pleased to be back at City of Bath College.
“I really enjoyed my time here and learned so much,” he said. “A couple of my lecturers still work here so it’s good to be back and working alongside them.
“I’m really enjoying teaching. It’s good to be able to pass on my enthusiasm for cooking and a few techniques too.“
