A touch of Rio Carnival is coming to the area this summer, thanks to a new community project from Bath & North East Somerset Council and partners.
The Summer Carnival project includes free costume-making and performance workshops for children, young people and families in Bath, Keynsham, Radstock and Peasedown St John.
The workshops will culminate in a Carnival parade as part of the Paralympics Flame Event on Saturday August 25, at the Bath Recreation ground.
There are workshops taking place at The Gateway Centre, Snow Hill, Bath; St John’s Parish Hall, 1 The Park, Keynsham; St Peter’s Church in Radstock and at The Youth Hub in Peasedown.
Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “The Carnival is the conclusion of Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Rio Carnival Quest project which will enable residents right across the district to take part in a unique carnival project over the summer.
Anyone interested in taking part in the workshops should call 01628 675800 or email [email protected] to find out more and book a place.
This Bath and North East Somerset Council-funded project is being delivered by ArtReach Events with support from a number of other local organisations.
