Students from City of Bath College have been helping to clear litter from along the bank of the River Avon as part of a community clean-up project.

The B&NES-run scheme saw 1.4 tonnes of rubbish cleared from along the riverbank in Bath as well as several riverside benches repainted.

Six Access to Building Services Engineering students were joined by several College lecturers and staff on the project, which saw a total of 46 volunteers collect 63 bags or rubbish.

Simon Robinson, Refrigeration Lecturer at City of Bath College, said: “City of Bath College always promotes volunteering opportunities and our students are keen to do their bit in the local community.

“This was a very worthwhile project that has made a massive difference to the look of the bank alongside the River Avon.

“The project was a great success and a lot of fun and I know our students got a lot of satisfaction from the difference they had made.“
