With a reputation as one of the most creative places in the South West and one of the UK’s 10 hotspots to invest in innovation, the Council is supporting new and existing businesses to succeed and thrive, particularly during difficult economic times.

New dates have been set for free workshops and one-to-one advice clinics for those starting their own business.  Organised and financed by Bath & North East Somerset Council and delivered by Business West, the sessions are designed to give participants the information they need to get their business off to a flying start.

The clinics, which are also available to established businesses, will be provided by experts working for Business West and are available free to any business located in Bath and North East Somerset.

Business Start-Up Awareness Workshops

  • Bath: 3rd September, 11th October, 24th October, 7th November, 3rd December
  • Midsomer Norton: 19th September, 15th November

Business Advice Clinics

  • Bath: 5th September, 11th October, 31st October, 12th November, 5th December
  • Midsomer Norton: 26th September, 21st November

Workshop places are limited to 6-10 delegates and Clinics will be on a 1:1 basis all allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.  To book your place, contact Business West on 01275 376233 or [email protected].

Councillor Cherry Beath (Lib-Dem, Combe Down), Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development, said, “Bath & North East Somerset Council has a strong track record in attracting business start-ups, but it is particularly important in these difficult economic times that people looking to start up a business get the right support and advice.  Our experience shows that companies which take advantage of the type of advice and support available through the Business West Start-Up Workshops and Advice Clinics, are better placed to improve their performance and achieve future growth.”

Mark Rogers, Partnership Manager at Business West, commented “I would encourage local business to take up these opportunities to access these face-to-face, one-to-one expert clinics for advice and assistance.”
